Background

Derek was drawn to the sport of fly fishing because of its complexities. Now as a guide, he strives to help simplify those complexities and provide clients with a more enjoyable learning experience on the water.

He’s chased fish with a fly rod back in his home state of Michigan, as well as during stints living on the East Coast and in Hawaii – and now in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.

He began his journey in the fly fishing industry working in a fly shop on the historic Pere Marquette River. Derek’s friendly Midwestern demeanor makes him a patient and approachable teacher for anglers of all experience levels.
