Elevenmile Canyon is known for its superb dry fly fishing. The Trico hatch is one of many that anglers should concentrate their efforts on.
Water Temperature: Low 40’s
Hatches: Midges, blue-winged olives, caddis, and yellow sallies
14 Day Forecast: Look for hatches of midges, blue-winged olives, caddis and yellow sallies. Look for low flows until Spinney Reservoir fills.
Tips and Other Information: Eleven Mile Canyon is fishing good right now. Anglers can expect to see reliable midge hatches in the morning, followed by blue-winged olives in the afternoon. Effective patterns have been tiny (size 22-24) Top Secret Midges, Black Beauties, Brassies, Jujube Midges, and Bling Midges in the morning and Stalcup’s Baetis, Jujubaetis, and Foam Wing Emergers in the afternoon. A size 20 Sparkle Dun or Parachute Adams has been good for the BWO’s. Caddis are hatching now too, so come prepared to imitate both pupae and adults. My favorites include: Graphic Caddis, Puterbaugh Caddis, and Elk Hair Caddis.
