Fishing Report: Arkansas River

The Arkansas river runs from the headwaters around Leadville through Salida to Buena Vista all the way through Pueblo. Tons of public access and great dry fly fishing during the summer and spring months.

Current Conditions Consistent fall flows through most of the river system. 200-300 cfs produces great hatches of BWO’s and Midges through the fall into winter

Clarity: Good

14 Day Forecast: Fall is here and the Blue Wing Olives are coming off!

Tips and Other Information: Dry droppers are still producing really nice fish and we are sticking with Extended Body BWO or Parachute Adams and dropping a tungsten bead mayfly emerger off the back. Focus on deeper tailout runs as well as riffle run sections and slower seams of the river for your best action.

Effective Patterns: #18-20 Manhattan Midge, #16-20 Tungsten Pheasant Tail, #16-20 Guides Choice Hares Ear, #18-20 Darth Baetis, #16-18 Jig Pheasant Tail, #16-20 Extended Body Blue Wing Olive, #18-20 Matthews Sparkle Dun, #16-18 Parachute Adams
