Pat Dorsey’s Stream Report: Deckers – South Platte River

Deckers is a world-renowned stretch of the South Platte River. There are miles of public water to fish in and around the hamlet of Deckers.

Current Conditions

Clarity:  Excellent

14 Day Forecast: Look for strong hatches of midges, blue wing olives and sporadic tricos and caddis.

Tips and Other Information: Fall is here and we are seeing some nicely colored browns along the South Platte. Cheesman Reservoir is currently 95% full and we are seeing a steady and consistent flow coming out of the dam. Anglers should prepare themselves for reliable hatches of midges and blue wing olives during the mornings and cloud cover days. The best fishing has been in the morning until around noon or so. Fishing an egg pattern in tandem with a midge or bwo emerger has been the ticket lately! Keep an eye on the weather as we are going to be seeing colder days and rain/snow. Browns have begun to spawn so please keep a close watch out for redds and make sure to not walk on them or fish to spawning trout!.
