Fly Fishing stillwater (lakes) can be intimidating for many fly anglers. Traditionally, most of us learn to fly fish on rivers, but fishing lakes is a much different ballgame. Without the knowledge of how to fish lakes, you can feel like a fish out of water. Let us cut that learning curve down dramatically for you.

Jerry Virgil on a Float Trip

Long time Blue Quill Angler guides, Joe Shafer and Jerry Vigil, will be spearheading a Float Tube Class tailored for anglers of all levels, from beginner to advanced. This class was designed to specifically teach you how to effectively fish lakes here in Colorado out of a float tube. Fishing out of a float tube offers advantages that other stillwater anglers don’t have. You can get away from the crowds on the bank, while approaching the fish in a very stealthy manner (there’s no loud engine on a float tube). Not to mention that you have the ability to stay with the fish as they transition from shallow to deeper, cooler waters.

The goal of this course is to leave you confident in your abilities to be successful while fishing out of a float tube on a lake. This class will cover: safety, gear, rigs, flies, methods, and fish behavior. This class will take place on a PRIVATE LAKE, where you can focus on perfecting your technique. Furthermore, we max the class out at 4 people to ensure this, and there will be 2 guides on the water with you.

**The Blue Quill Angler will provide everything you need for the class, except a fishing license. Please feel free to use your own equipment, but if you don’t have any, the Blue Quill will supply it for you.

Cost: $375 per person

*Max of 4 people per class

*1 day course held at a Private Lake where you will spend the day on the water learning and catching fish.
