Tips and Other Information: Denver Water has shut the Roberts Tunnel off for the winter, so expect all natural flow and for the river to freeze up soon. We’ll keep you posted as things change, but for the time being, all our private leases are closed for the season and will re-open next spring.

This section of the North Fork of the South Platte River is owned by Mile High Anglers who serve gourmet lunches out of the cold all year long. The North Fork Meadows is broken down to three different sections that provide anglers of all skill and experience levels to enjoy outstanding fly fishing thanks to a combination of fast riffles, long runs, deep holes, and pocket water. The banks are largely free of trees and obstructions that can grab hold of your fly. During the summer, this impressive stretch of water winds through grassy meadows beautifully painted with bright colored wildflowers. One look around at the surrounding mountains offers exactly what you would expect from fly fishing in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

What’s the Fishing Like at The North Fork Meadows?

The many trout and other fish in this stretch of private water are extremely healthy. Average fish here range from 2-4 pounds with the occasional 6-10-pound behemoth. The lower portion is more technical and better suited for the skilled fly-fishing angler and steady wader. The middle section is the easiest to fish and produces some of the largest fish on the South Platte River. The upper section of North Fork Meadows is a dry fly wonderland with abundant bug hatches that offer some of the best dry fly fishing in Colorado.
