The Blue Quill Angler, along with Avalon Cuban Fishing Centers, invite you to join them on an all-inclusive fly fishing trip to Cayo Largo, Cuba – June 9th-16th, 2017! Cayo Largo is an island 40 miles south of mainland Cuba, and home to some of the best saltwater flats fishing you can find. It’s a place where the flats extend as far as you can see, and low tides provide as many bonefish tails as you can chase. A place where you can target permit, bonefish, tarpon, snook, mutton snappers, and barracuda among many others, and often all in the same day. What’s even better is they only allow fly fishing in the waters around Cayo Largo. It’s a designated marine preserve, that strictly prohibits: bait fishing, spin fishing, commercial fishing, netting, and skiffs from other companies.
Avalon offers its anglers exclusive access to almost 100 square miles of water around Cayo Largo – limited to 6 boats per day over this massive area. The fish are there in numbers and due to the light pressure, usually eager to eat a fly. Not only are there a lot of fish to target in Cuba, but the size of their fish is impressive – bonefish average 4-5 pounds! Along with the bonefish, permit, snook, tarpon, and snappers are thick in numbers and size. Another aspect that makes Cayo Largo a special place for fly fisherman is the diverse water you will have the chance to fish. You will get to fish flats that go as far as you can see, beaches with cruising snook, mangroves lined with tarpon, lagoons with tailing permit, channels, and you will get to wade fish for tailing bonefish.
