Based at Casa Cangrejo Lodge, anglers will spend five full days exploring pristine flats and mangrove-lined shorelines in search of bonefish, permit, tarpon, and other flats species.
Located on the southern tip of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, Xcalak remains a quiet fishing village far removed from crowded cities. Unlike more developed places, the area retains its laid-back charm and natural beauty. There are no high-rise resorts or crowded beaches—just a small coastal village surrounded by turquoise water, coral reefs, and miles of fishable flats. The surrounding waters of Chetumal Bay and the Caribbean Sea offer miles of shallow flats, mangrove lagoons, and coral-lined coastlines that create a truly world-class saltwater fly fishing experience.
Xcalak has earned an international reputation for its diverse flats fishing and excellent opportunities for the “Grand Slam” — bonefish, permit, and tarpon in a single day. Anglers here enjoy excellent sight-fishing opportunities with experienced local guides who know these fisheries intimately. Whether stalking permit on the flats, chasing schools of bonefish, or searching mangrove edges for tarpon, every day offers a new adventure on the water.

Crystal-clear Caribbean water, mangrove islands, and vibrant marine life create a setting that feels both remote and peaceful.
Your home for the week is Casa Cangrejo Lodge, a welcoming beachfront lodge located right in the heart of Xcalak. The lodge offers a relaxed atmosphere designed specifically for anglers, with comfortable accommodations and easy access to the surrounding fishing grounds. Guests stay in private beachfront cabanas with private bathrooms, daily maid service, and newly renovated rooms featuring modern comforts including air conditioning.
After a full day on the water, anglers gather back at the lodge to relax, share stories from the flats, and enjoy great food and drinks overlooking the Caribbean.

Travel Details & Pricing
Anglers on this trip can plan on traveling to Tulum, Mexico on March 6th. Upon arrival in Tulum, a shuttle will meet the group and provide transportation to Xcalak. The drive takes approximately three hours, passing through scenic coastal and jungle landscapes before arriving at the lodge.
The group will fish March 7-11, then leave the lodge on March 12 to fly back home.
