Born and raised in Conifer, Colorado, Will Hood discovered his love of fly fishing alongside his dad on the South Platte River. He brings the curiosity of a young local angler, a passion for exploring new water, and a genuine enthusiasm for the outdoors to the Blue Quill shop team.
About Will
Will grew up in Conifer with Colorado's rivers and mountain landscapes close to home. Fly fishing became especially meaningful through time spent with his dad on the South Platte, where he began building the skills, patience, and appreciation for the water that continue to shape the way he fishes.
Now a senior in high school, Will is already looking ahead. He plans to attend college in Gunnison and study biology, pairing his education with the same curiosity about fish, water, and the natural world that keeps drawing him back outside.
At The Blue Quill
As part of the shop team, Will brings a local angler's perspective and an eagerness to keep learning. He has grown up fishing close to the same Front Range waters many Blue Quill customers visit, giving him a natural connection to the community and the places they fish.
His enthusiasm for exploring, improving, and sharing the experience of fly fishing makes him a welcome addition to a team built around helping anglers head to the water with better information and greater confidence.
Local Water, Lasting Influence
The South Platte is more than the river where Will learned to fly fish. It is where time with his dad became a lasting connection to the sport and where he began to understand how much there is to learn from every new day on the water.
That foundation continues to influence the way he approaches fishing today: stay curious, keep learning, and appreciate the places and people that make each outing memorable.
Looking Ahead
College in Gunnison will give Will the opportunity to study biology while continuing to explore a part of Colorado known for exceptional rivers, lakes, and public lands. It is a natural next step for someone whose interests in fishing, wildlife, and the outdoors have been connected from the beginning.
Always Searching for New Water
Will enjoys exploring fisheries throughout Colorado in search of new species and personal bests. For him, part of the appeal is never knowing exactly what the next piece of water might hold. Each trip is a chance to learn a new fishery, try a different approach, and add another experience to a growing life in fly fishing.
