Flows: 297 cfs
Water Temperature: Mid 40’s
Hatches: Midges, sporadic caddis, and sporadic red quills
14 Day Forecast: Look for low flows until Denver Water turns the Roberts Tunnel back on. Currently with all the rain, there is no down stream irrigation demand.
Tips and Other Information: Flows are a little on the high side right now on the North Fork of the South Platte. Currently Denver Water is bringing 250 cfs of water through the Roberts Tunnel to meet downstream irrigation demand and day to day city use. Anglers are fooling trout with an assortment of small bead heads, midges, egg patterns, San Juan Worms, and leech imitations. Target the soft water margins behind rocks and concentrate your efforts near the banks. Fishing is quite good if you fish the correct water. Anglers are catching a mixed bag of brown, rainbow, cut bow, brook, tiger, and the occasional palomino. Overall the river is treating anglers pretty good!
Effective Patterns: #10 Chamois Leech, #14 San Juan Worm (brown, pink, and red), #18 Hot Tail Flash Eggs, #20-22 Bead Head Flashback Black Beauties, #20-22 Pearl Jams, #20-22 Rainbow Warriors, #18-20 Mercury Black Beauty, and #20-22 red midge larva.
