Cancellation Policy

Guide Trip Cancellation:

A trip may need to be cancelled for a variety of reasons. While we try to be as flexible as possible, there are times when we will charge for either the deposit or the full amount of the trip, depending on how much time in advance of the trip the cancellation was made.

The primary reason for this is to provide a minimal amount of compensation for the guide(s) that was assigned to your trip. Our guides rely in this income to support themselves and/or their families and was taken out of our rotation when he/she was assigned to your trip.  If the cancellation is made far enough in advance, we won’t charge a cancellation fee since it is likely that we were able to reassign the guide to another trip.

Private water rod fees, if applicable,  are not refundable or reschedulable once the trip has been confirmed.  This includes training classes held on private water. The reason for this is these private locations charge the Blue Quill the rod fees on a non-refundable basis, once the date has been confirmed with them. Once you confirm your date, that property/section is yours for the day — whether you take the trip or not. The only exception is when the land owner determines that the waters are deemed  un-fishable. The guide fee portion of a cancelled or rescheduled trip is subject to the conditions noted below.

We also do not allow cancellations for weather. Our trips operate in rain, sleet, snow or bright sunshine — whatever mother nature decides to throw our way. The exception is when the road conditions are considered dangerous enough for schools in the area to close. In that case we will allow you to cancel or reschedule at no cost.

Guide Trip Cancellation Fees:

  • 15 or more days in advance of the trip will receive a full refund of the deposit
  • Cancellations made within 24 hours of when the booking was made will receive a full refund of the deposit. The only exception is when the booking is made within 48 hours of the trip, in which case the deposit will not be refunded.
  • 14 days or less will be charged a cancellation fee of $250 per guide for full day trips and $150 per guide for half day trips. This cancellation fee will applied to trips with multiple guides when the number of anglers is reduced and fewer guides are needed.
  • Cancellations made within 72 hours of the trip, or on the day of the trip, will be charged the full trip price.

Training Class Cancellation Fees:

Our class sizes are limited to 6 students and sell out quickly. Last minute cancellations do not allow us time to fill your spot with another student.
