Why December?
Summer in Patagonia. Big Dry Flies. Big Trout.
This December trip is timed around one of Rio Manso’s most exciting seasonal opportunities: the dragonfly hatch. Warm, dry summer days can bring trout to the surface for aggressive takes on large dry flies.
When dragonflies are not active, the fishing remains diverse. Expect opportunities with streamers, large attractor dries and technical presentations across rivers, channels and stillwaters.
The variety is the real draw. You can move from small streams to large rivers to deep lakes holding brown trout, rainbows and trophy brook trout—all during the same week.

Lago Hess Channels
Glassy currents and cruising fish create spring-creek-like sight-fishing challenges where some of the watershed’s largest trout can be found.
Lago Fonck & Stillwaters
Target rainbows, browns and brook trout along weed beds and structure with large dries and streamers from Carolina skiffs.
Rio Manso Lodge
Comfort in the Andes.
Rio Manso Lodge sits beside Lago Hess with views toward the Andes. Each of the lodge’s nine rooms faces northwest toward the lake and mountains.
After fishing, return to freshly prepared meals, wine and beverages, comfortable lodging, internet and laundry service. Non-fishing activities are also available, making the trip a strong option for couples where only one person fishes.

Dec. 10Depart for Buenos Aires.
Dec. 11Arrive Buenos Aires and overnight at a hotel. This hotel night is not included.
Dec. 12Fly to Bariloche. Rio Manso staff meets the group and transfers everyone to the lodge.
Dec. 13–18Six full days of guided fishing across the Rio Manso program.
Dec. 19Depart Rio Manso Lodge and begin the trip home.
