Born and raised in Evergreen, Colorado, Geneva Scarano has spent a lifetime exploring the rivers, streams, and beaver ponds of the Colorado Rockies. Her connection to the South Platte began early, and today she brings that local knowledge, warmth, and genuine love of teaching to every day on the water.
About Geneva
Geneva's love of the outdoors started at a very young age, with many of her favorite childhood memories centered around fishing mountain streams and beaver ponds near home. In the early 1990s, her family purchased the historic Platte River Cabins in Pine, Colorado, placing the North Fork of the South Platte right in the middle of family life.
It was there that her father introduced her to fly fishing, turning a lifelong love of fishing into a deeper passion for the sport. Those early experiences still shape the way Geneva approaches the river today: with curiosity, appreciation, and an eagerness to share the experience with others.

Geneva loves helping anglers feel comfortable, capable, and connected to the water. Whether someone is picking up a fly rod for the first time or looking to improve an existing skill set, she brings a patient, encouraging approach and a strong understanding of local Colorado water.
For Geneva, a great guided day is about more than catching fish. It is about sharing the beauty of the river, helping people understand what is happening around them, and making sure they leave with more confidence than they arrived with.
A Career Built Around Helping People
After graduating from Conifer High School, Geneva pursued another passion: caring for others. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and has worked as a registered nurse at a local urgent care and family medicine clinic in Evergreen for more than 20 years.
That background carries naturally onto the river. Listening carefully, staying calm, explaining things clearly, and meeting people where they are all come second nature—and they are the same qualities that make her such an approachable guide and instructor.
Rooted in Colorado
Geneva's story is deeply connected to the Front Range. From growing up in Evergreen to learning to fly fish on the North Fork of the South Platte, her experience is grounded in the same waters and mountain communities that many Blue Quill customers come to enjoy.
Beyond the River
When Geneva is not on the water, there is a good chance she is at the vise tying flies or spending time in her garden. She values the remarkable places and people that fly fishing has brought into her life and considers sharing that passion with others one of the great rewards of guiding.
