Background

Avid fly fisherman and fly tier, Lucas Carter Smith, is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and spends the late spring and summer seasons in Colorado, guiding for The Blue Quill .

In 2013, he attended West Virginia University where he was an original member of the fly fishing club. After graduating college in 2017, he spent four months working as a fly shop attendant and fish filleter for Kenai Cache Outfitters in Cooper Landing, AK.

In 2020 Lucas attended Sweetwater Travel Co’s premier fly fishing guiding school where he received thorough training from an array of experienced guides.

In 2022 Lucas accepted a position with The Blue Quill Angler as a lead float and wade guide - fulfilling his dream of becoming a full time fly fishing guide.

In the early spring and fall seasons, Lucas returns to the Pittsburg area -- chasing Lake Erie Steelhead in PA and OH through his own guide service.
