Peacock "eye" tail feathers have been used since the first fly for fly fishing was tied. The center stem of the herl in the eye is wide and flat and when stripped of its greenish flue or fuzz can be wound to form a body or abdomen that closely resembles many natural insects. Many of the other herl pieces are very full and make great, iridescent nymph bodies!
