Fall 2023 Newsletter

It feels like summer was just getting going, and just like that, fall seems to have arrived. Some folks are feeling like we never got the true summer we wanted, and others are excited about cooler temps and football. Fall is one of our favorite times to fish out here. It means cool mornings, afternoon hatches, and streamers!

If you are looking to get out, or need a refresher on some of the basics, we have guides and classes available. Keep in mind that going out with one of our guides can be a great way to hone in a new tactic, or pick up some new tricks to get fish biting in changing conditions. We also have some great streamer fishing tips and gear suggestions coming in the next couple weeks, so keep an eye out!

Here at the shop, things have been staying busy. We are starting to get all of our new gear for cooler temps and moving some great summer items over to the sale rack. If you are in the area, make sure you swing by to see what the new deals are!

Some other updates:
We are still not sending any guide trips into Cheesman Canyon. Conditions for now are largely unchanged, a little bit of rain and decreased calls for water have kept flows below what would be needed to clear out any of the slides from earlier this season. If you want to check things out for yourself and get a hike in, be aware that the Cheesman parking area will be closed on Sept. 26th and 27th for maintenance.

While the season might be slowing down for some people, we are getting ready to ramp things up for the holiday season. We have a sale coming up in mid-October (we will let you know and exact date ASAP) – we'll have some beer and brats ready to roll!

Author's Day is also coming up. If you've been to one before, you know what a good time this is! We will have a full list of authors and a date firmed up soon. This is a great chance to get books signed and have a beer with the guys who have been teaching us how to fish through their writing. And, make sure you come hungry! Author's Day is also Blue Quill's in-house Chili Cook-Off. Come taste and vote on your favorite!

Hopefully everyone has made the most this year of our time between high water and storms to get out and fish. If the rest of the year is anything like this summer, we should be in for a wild ride!
