Summer 2023 Newsletter
Greetings Anglers!
Colorado is certainly having an interesting start to the summer fishing season. LOTS of rain and runoff from an above average snow year have us taking full advantage of our chest waders, and checking out some of the stillwater options we have available. Fishing has still been great, but as we all know, high water means different tactics. If you are struggling to find fish or are just not sure where to go, call us at the shop – the staff is always excited to help get folks into fish!
Speaking of the shop, things are looking great as we get in new gear from the vendors. The new Freestone waders from Simms, top-notch sun protection from Patagonia, and some great gift items like Blue Quill flasks and Zippo lighters are all in! Now's also a great time to stock up on tippet with Umpqua's buy one, get one sale on Perform X and Deceiver X tippet. Swing by the shop, or check them out on-line.
The guide staff has been busy as ever too. Hopefully some of you from around the country (and rest of the world) have some time to come check out Colorado's amazing fishing opportunities. If you are looking for something fun to do with the family or trying to hone in on a specific spot, our guide staff has the expertise to help. If your fishing journey has just begun, or if you are looking for a bit of a refresher, our Introduction to Fly Fishing class is one of our most popular products – and we still have some spots left for the summer.
We are excited about the way things are shaping up here, we have as much water as can be remembered in recent history, and we are all taking advantage of it in fun ways. It's also difficult not to be hopeful about avoiding some of the high water temp issues we've seen the past few years. But only time will tell, and we are always at the mercy of Mother Nature!
As always, thanks to all of our Blue Quill community for your support. We have the best customers!
