Great day fishing with Pat Dorsey under trying conditions. Falling water flows stressed the fish but Pat was able to see the fish and direct me to their paths. Challenging by always rewarding when landing a beautiful brown. Pat is always on top of things, changing flies and adjusting the weight on the line to get the right fly down to the fish. Always a fun day with Pat.

Another great day with Pat. He had 3 of us today on private water and what a truly fun day fishing. Pat is a true expert in the sport and such a great guy to spend the day with. Always a pleasure. thanks again Pat

Upon requesting a day for three in Cheesman Canyon, we were told that would be difficult, but Pat came through and agreed to treating me (70), my son (41), and grandson (11) to an awesome day. Pat's ability to keep three anglers on fish was impressive and his patience .......... well, let's say, I could not have maneuvered river crossings and challenging holes without his assistance. Thanks Pat.

I love fly fishing. I like being a Colorado angler. My desire to improve especially at nymphing is a skill I want to work on this year. Having a day with Pat Dorsey was as humbling as it was instructive. His skill at rigging a nymphing rod is only surpassed by his ability to identify where fish might be based on temperatures, flows and changing depths. He demonstrates a knowledge of reading a river that makes it seem obvious why fish will be waiting for our flies. His uncomplicated approach involves paying attention to details, understanding a river can be different every day and covering some ground. I hope to repeat the successes I had with Pat but know I have to put in some more time.

Another great day with Pat on the Williams Fork. I have fished with Pat for over 10 years now and have always had a great day. This trip I brought with me two friends who are beginners and they had a great time learning from Pat. Already scheduled 2 days next year. Thanks again Pat

Enjoyed a wonderful day fly fishing at Decker's with the guidance of Pat. He was very patient while constantly adjusting the weight and strike indicator of my nymph rig. His sharing of fly fishing wisdom, encouragement, and a good shore lunch met all my expectations. Although I landed plenty 14 inch trout, I will remember the three 18 to 20 inch jumping monsters that avoided any sighting of our landing net.

I had a fantastic day on the South Platte River with Pat Dorsey. Safety while wading the river and keeping me out of poison ivy made for an even better day. Pat's selection of nymphs and worm patterns resulted in an amazing number of browns and rainbows caught, many of impressive sizes. Couldn't have asked for a better guide who shared with me many tips to improve my fishing abilities.

I have now fished with three amazing guides from BlueQuill, nothing but respect for all of them and their skills to find fish and teach. This week I had the pleasure to fish with Pat in Cheeseman Canyon. His knowledge and expertise at the craft of fly fishing was amazing. He is a scholar and a gentleman. Can’t wait to book another trip.

Had a fabulous day in Cheeseman Canyon with Pat, celebrating my 75th birthday and learning a ton from the finest guide and fishing friend ever. 75 cfs was no obstacle for Pat and we hooked/caught many fish in parts of the canyon I had never been before. He is the G.O.A.T!

Pat has an intimate knowledge of Cheesman Canyon and he knew where the trout were holding and how to catch them. I was amazed at his ability to spot and identify fish - and fish species - in the river.

Pat was very patient and shared knowledge about techniques and tactics. I feel fortunate to have spent the day with one of the best anglers around and highly recommend Pat as a guide.

As a side note, my experience with the Blue Quill Angler staff both before and after my trip was outstanding.

Wow, this guy is legit. I’d heard of him through friends and locals but his schedule is full so it was difficult to book him. A cancellation and a recommendation from another modest guide secured his services. His drive and passion are crazy! Truly cares for your experience to be everything you would expect. Highly recommended by me and my party. It ain’t a job for him…it’s his life and we as anglers are the beneficiaries of his knowledge, passion & inspiration. He and John make a great duo. Very satisfied and are coming back for more!

Another great day out with Pat - deep in Cheesman - on a day when flows were very high (>840 cfs) and conditions were tricky.
His knowledge of the fishery is second to none and resulted in a very productive day, especially as the afternoon progressed.
His professionalism, attention to detail, attitude, and enthusiasm that cannot be beat. He also feeds you well! If you want to learn how to fish challenging and technical water in all seasons, Pat is the guide you hire.

It was another amazing day in Cheesman Canyon. Pat is an amazing guide and a great guy to hang out with on the river. It was all good.

I had the most amazing day fishing with Pat Dorsey at Deckers. Not idea conditions but Pat made the day great. We caught lots of beautiful fish. The river was high and he was great at getting around any obstacles so we could fish dozens of spots. He made this beginner feel like a pro. I will fish with him again. P. S. His lunch he personally made was great.

I enjoyed a day of fishing less than ideal conditions at Deckers with Pat in mid-May. It was right after some heavy rain and snow and the water was colder with low visibility. Pat knew all the primo spots for holding fish in these difficult conditions and the right flies to get them to eat.

Pat is the best. He knows where to find the fish and gives great tips & techniques to help me catch them. I'll be back.

Pat Dorsey was a wonderful person to have as a guide. He is a very knowledgeable person who is just as passionate about teaching as he is about caring for the conservation of the parts I fished. When he told me about Cheesman Canyon being washed out and filled with sediment I was ok with going to Deckers. It was an awesome choice as I netted about a dozen and lost about 6 more. It was a great experience. If your heart is set on Cheesman Canyon it will be a long time before it gets somewhat back to normal from all of the rain that occurred in the last couple of weeks. Even Deckers suffered a lot of damage but was still very successful. I 100% recommend Pat Dorsey as a guide and I hope to fish with him again.

Pat is an amazing person. Top shelf. So I’ll start there. Pure class. Second time he’s taken me deep into Cheesman Canyon. Both were amazing trips. Can you have two trips of a lifetime? I did. Jeremiah Gage and I shared the last trip. We both caught gorgeous fish. Pat had us in right spots, called the cast and drift after setting depth and weight differently every time. He told us where the fish would be, often pointing to the feeding trout. Pat made sure our tough hike was safe, there was plenty of water and a great lunch prepared that morning. We crossed the river several times. He extended his arm for my support each time. It was like a steel bar to hold. He also did that as I stepped into fishing spots. I’m almost 70 so Pat was careful with me. It was a wonderful trip. I included a picture of Pat holding my 18 inch rainbow, thick as a football. That picture will be displayed in my living room in Norfork, AR. Sadly there is only one Pat Dorsey so good luck in booking him. Start early and if you are lucky, enjoy the beauty of Cheesman and this exceptional man.

I've gone into Cheeseman canyon twice now with Pat. He's an excellent guide and teacher-patient and attentive. I look forward to another trip with him.
